Lockdown Story
Bizarre what’s app messages, strange analysis, variety of video clips some showing a doctor speaking, a gym guy advising a particular stretching technique which can definietly drive away Covid, one guy suggesting not only the lime juice, eat the cover too, and then there are breathing techniques, Gharelu nuska, scary crematorium clips reaching through several modes giving me that sinking feeling. I am getting drowned.
Between this suddenly some sweet sixteen would pop up wearing her Mother’s expensive saree and she would show her dance skill shot at her rooftop. All these had stopped, people slowly moved masks to their chins, brave souls like me had removed it altogether and it was all fine. Clubs, Bar, Restaurants looked normal, loud music in the disc came back.
Maintain SD, Dude. Bips [name shortened] told Ash as he was trying to get cozy with his GF. Social distancing became a fancy.
If you all notice, one particular community, the fortune tellers kept completely quiet during this Covid mess. Past one year they did not utter a word. They play carrom now. I am sure they had a closed door meeting in some banquet located in the mezzanine floor of a hotel.
Bhaailog.. abhi chup rahne ka. Awaz nahi. Chup rahne mein hi sabka bhalai hai. No predictions please.
With this 2nd wave of Covid, Kadha team is also very quiet. They made gallons and gallons of that bitter stuff drink to their loved ones last year. Now the victims protested.
Ab bass kar. Kuch to ho nahin raha hai. Tu baas pilaye jaari. Jasdeep roared one day. Avneet took back glass full of that brown drink and threw it to the sink. That was the end.
I received several calls after took the first dose of vaccine, everyone wanted to know was it this or that. As I uttered Covishield, some said ‘’arey.. Covaxin lena chahiye tha. wo better hai. Chalo koi baat nahin.’’
I kept quite like a loser. Wondered who confirmed them which one of the two is doing good, also why other one isn’t.
One of the rainy mornings during monsoon time, took a morning flight from Kolkata to Mumbai, as the aircraft was almost reaching to it’s safe height between the cloud, it faced a terrible turbulence. 30 odd minutes seemed like hours. Everyone felt there is no chance today. Fellow passengers screaming, some crying aloud, some praying, and like me, many were sitting quietly, getting ready to embrace the inevitable.
As the turbulence got over, crew started moving with the same plastic smile, served essentials, sold coffee and sandwiches just like any other day. Fear vanished as the bright sun flicked through the oval windows and flight glided smoothly. This turmoil would also diminish someday; by making Earth again be at peace. You and me would soon drive down to that Barista at Bandstand. A Cappuccino is much needed.
